1.4. Mainboard Components
Inside the computer, some components are directly embedded to the mainboard,
and some are connected with a slot or wire.
Here are the main components:
- The processor runs the apps
and controls everything that happens when the computer is on.
It's the brains of computer. (A.k.a. CPU, Central Processing unit)
- Memory holds data, like apps and files, while the computer is running.
It's the working memory for a computer, and it gets empty when you turn the computer off.
The processor runs applications by reading the application program from the memory and executing it.
(A.k.a. RAM, Random-Access Memory)
- Hard drive (HD) is
the long-term memory of the computer.
It keeps apps, pictures and other files in safe, when the computer is off.
